WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY NOT A SOLUTION FOR DIABETES

A new study shows that weight loss surgery is not effective in battling type two diabetes. I have previously discussed that diabetes infliction in the United States is increasing rapidly. I have also discussed the fact that the infliction of diabetes has been tied to the intake of junk food. The fact that weight loss surgery is not effective against diabetes should dissuade the many people, who have weight loss surgery as a way of battling the disease, from such surgeries.
A group of doctors published the most recent study in the journal for obesity surgery (an online abstract of the study may be read here). The study followed roughly 4,400 diabetics, each of whom had undergone gastric bypass surgery, for a period of ten years. ?Roughly 56 percent of these patients had no long term remission of their diabetes. These findings are significant due to the fact that many patients see weight loss surgery as a "cure all" for their weight problems and all of the health associated issues that stem from obesity. The fact that a health problem such as diabetes is likely to continue after weight loss surgery?should lead to people to nutritional and fitness based solutions, especially when one considers that?many who have surgery gain the weight back. ? Weight loss surgery should not be seen as a solution to obesity and obesity related health problems. Such procedures deal with symptoms of larger issues and not the issues that cause obesity. When you consider that many obese people eat past the point of being full then weight loss surgery is not a solution; such people will continue eating past the artificial point of "feeling full" that the surgery gives them. People must get to the cause of why the overeat in the first place and such is the only way to truly deal with their personal obesity issues.

Lifestyle change is a more effective than surgery in fighting diabetes

Doctors will often claim that surgery or medicines are the only path to weight loss. Each of our weight loss success stories have gained their success through lifestyle change. As a result, our clients have now tackled the core issues that caused their weight gain and do not face any of the side effects or risks that go along with a medical approach.?
