Programming note: D'Backs-Giants coverage gets underway tonight at 6:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area

The Giants are expected to announce today that Melky Cabrera, currently serving a 50-game suspension for testosterone use, will not be part of the Giants' postseason roster, CSNBayArea.com has learned.

My understanding is Cabrera is disappointed, but he and his reps do not plan on filing a grievance in response to the club's decision.

Cabrera, a switch-hitting left fielder, had a .346 average and was leading the major leagues in both hits and runs scored when his positive test was announced Aug. 15. The Giants have gone 25-12 since the suspension while cruising to the NL West title.

Cabrera would have been eligible to play in the Arizona instructional league beginning Saturday.
